The Chase

Winemaking is an ancient part of man’s connection with earth – natural, physical, spiritual, and cultural.  The natural order of the world has inspired philosophers, writers and dreamers for millennia.  Human lack of control over our own future is a recurring theme in classical writing and mythology, as personified by the Fates.

The Fates were goddesses responsible for shaping our lots in life, spinning and weaving the threads of human destiny.  In winemaking it is nature, not man, that ultimately determines whether fruit and resulting wine will be great.  The quest to make great wine is a beautiful struggle with nature, requiring resilience and perhaps a little obsession.  Fates’ Lieutenant celebrates this ancient dance.
